OK Representative Gerrid Kendrix

From:
Altus, OK

About:
Gerrid Kendrix is our representative for District 52 in the Oklahoma State House of Representatives. Succeeding Representative Charles Ortega, who tenured out of his seat in accordance with Oklahoma law, Gerrid is in his freshman term as an Oklahoma State Representative, which began in January 2021. Representative Kendrix serves on the following committees:

Judiciary - Criminal, Vice-Chair
Appropriations and Budget for General Government
Business and Commerce
Government Modernization and Efficiency
State and Federal Redistricting - Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee

Mr. Kendrix ran on a Pro-Life, Pro-Business, Pro-Education, and Pro-Second Amendment platform. His committee appointments leave him well positioned to have significant influence on many of these issues.

Representative Kendrix is a Christian and a conservative Republican. He and his high school sweetheart, Cynthia, have been married for 33 years. Gerrid and Cynthia raised 3 children, who all reside and work in Altus. They also have 5 grandchildren, with a sixth expected this summer! Gerrid's 30+ years in public practice as a Certified Public Accountant give him tremendous insight into planning, forecasting, and budgeting, which enable him to advocate for efficient, cost-effective government that will benefit all residents of Jackson County and our state. He is also an avid cyclist.

Legislative Leadership from the Start.

Representative Kendrix, along with his colleagues in the Oklahoma Legislature and Governor Stitt, has worked tirelessly to preserve Oklahomans' constitutional liberties. In his first session in the Oklahoma State Legislature, he has already taken a principled stand by voting to protect Oklahomans from federal government overreach on second amendment issues. Indeed, 2021 has been a year of achieving many campaign goals for Rep. Kendrix, including creating improvements to government efficiency, and securing short-term economic growth that promises to have a lasting impact as we rebound from the pandemic. He also helped pass accountability and equity reforms for private and charter schools, increased school choice options, protected our students from harmful Critical Race theory indoctrination, and helped pass the largest education budget increase in Oklahoma history. Represenative Kendrix has played an integral role in ensuring that Oklahoma is safer, more prosperous, and more free now than at any other time in state history.

"We need to protect our Constitutional freedoms. This COVID crisis has shown that we have a lot of work to do in that area. It is important in times like these that we protect those that are more vulnerable, however, we must respect an individual’s freedom to operate their business and provide for their livelihood."

Southwest Oklahoma Values.

Having spent the majority of his life in Southwest Oklahoma, Rep. Kendrix's values and concerns are synonymous with the values and concerns of the people of Southwest Oklahoma. With COVID-19 in mind, it will be important to make sound financial decisions that expand commerce, create revenue, and manage expenditures of the state's finances as we move forward. His experience in public accounting for over 30 years will aid him in helping us to deal with the current financial crisis in Oklahoma. As many of District 52's constituents live in small and rural communities, the availability of healthcare and access to healthcare professionals will continue to be a legislative priority for him. In addition, two foundations critical to our future are our nations defense, which hits home for all Southwest Oklahoma with Altus Air Force Base, and higher education provided by Western Oklahoma State College and Southwest Technology Center who prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
